An Easier Way for College Students to Furnish Their Dorms

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between temporary ownership and renting?
From a practical standpoint, they are very similar.  Rather than an impersonal rental business, we see Evolving Vox as
a community of students who share things amongst each other.  We prefer the term “temporary ownership” because
we think it stresses this sense of community.

Will the things I order be brand new or used?
This depends on your college. At Dartmouth, for the Winter 07 term approximately half of our inventory will be brand new, the
other half will be gently used by Dartmouth students. We only reuse items that are in excellent condition. We recondition all
products before reusing them. At all other colleges, everything rented this winter will be brand new.

How do you recondition your furniture?
We use industrial-strength cleaners to make sure that everything is in superb shape.
Our goal is for all of our items to be
in sufficiently good shape that it is difficult to tell they have ever been used.

When will the furniture/electronics I ordered be delivered to my room?
We will deliver everything to your room within the first week of the term.

How do I arrange a delivery time?
We will contact you via email in order to set up a delivery time when you are available.

Is there a sign-up fee?
No, you can join Evolving Vox for free.  You will only pay when you order specific items.

Will there be an additional charge if I damage an item?
Normal wear and tear (i.e. minor stains and scratches) on furniture is expected; you will not be charged. If you cause extensive
or malicious damage (i.e. leg broken off coffee table) then we will ask that you pay to repair the item.

Will I have to assemble anything?
No.  We will assemble everything and deliver it to your room.

Can I use Evolving Vox if I’m not living in an on-campus dorm?
Yes, it doesn’t matter if you live in a dorm, fraternity or sorority house, affinity house, off-campus house, or off-campus apartment.

Can graduate students use Evolving Vox?
Yes, but please keep in mind that our periods of use are based on the undergraduate academic term schedule.
